Artist Bio

By training I am a developmental neuropsychologist, specializing in neurodiversity-affirming collaborative assessments — a practice built on the same principles as the art: that what has been misunderstood, pathologized, or pushed to the margins deserves to be seen clearly and without judgment. The work in the clinic and the work in the studio ask the same thing. Go toward what is difficult. Stay with it. Bear witness.

Several years ago, a rare autoimmune condition dismantled my life from the inside out — neurologically, physically, psychiatrically. The person I had built, the capacities I had relied on, the ground I had stood on: all of it gone, or profoundly changed. What remained was the necessity of starting over. Not restoring what was, but building something true from what survived.

Art has always been how I do that work. Long before the illness, and more urgently since. The canvas is where I bring what can't yet be spoken — the grief of losing one's self, the slow rage of rebuilding, the strange grace of being forced all the way down to the ground. The illness gave me no choice but to live what I had always painted. I am still painting my way through it.

I continue to practice as a neuropsychologist and as an artist — two paths into the same territory, asking the same questions, staying with what is hard.
